Roofing

A roof is only as good as what is under the shingles. RossBuilt replaces and repairs residential roofs across the St. Louis metro with attention to the parts that actually keep water out: solid decking, proper flashing, ice and water shield in the right places and ventilation that lets the attic breathe through our humid summers and freeze-thaw winters.

Roofing services

  • Full roof replacement (tear-off, not layovers)
  • Architectural asphalt shingles in a range of colors
  • Roof repairs: missing or creased shingles, leaks, lifted flashing
  • Decking replacement for soft or rotted sheathing
  • Chimney, wall and skylight flashing
  • Pipe boots, vents and ridge ventilation
  • Roof inspections after storms and before buying or selling a home

What a roof replacement includes

Every replacement starts with a walkthrough and a written, itemized estimate so you know exactly what is included. On install day we protect landscaping and siding, tear off down to the decking and check every sheet. Soft or delaminated decking gets replaced instead of covered up.

From there: drip edge, ice and water shield at eaves, valleys and penetrations, synthetic underlayment, new flashing where the old flashing is worn, shingles installed to the manufacturer’s nailing pattern, and ridge vents or roof vents sized to the attic. We finish with a magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway for nails and a final walkthrough with you.

Repair or replace?

Not every leak needs a new roof. A lifted piece of step flashing or a cracked pipe boot is a repair. Widespread granule loss, curling or brittle shingles, multiple leaks or a roof past its expected life usually point to replacement. We will tell you which one you need, and if a repair will buy you a few good years, we will say so.

Signs your roof needs attention

  • Water stains on ceilings or in the attic
  • Shingles that are curling, cracked, creased or missing
  • Granules piling up in gutters or at the bottom of downspouts
  • A sagging roofline or soft spots
  • Daylight through the roof boards in the attic
  • Ice dams or frost buildup in the attic in winter

Storm damage

Hail and high wind are a fact of life in St. Louis. If a storm has rolled through, see our storm damage and insurance page for how we inspect, document damage and work alongside your insurance adjuster. And while the roof is being done, it is the right time to look at gutters and gutter guards.
